RALEIGH, NC — Capen Consulting, LLC is proud to announce a leadership transition as Founder and President David Capen accepts an opportunity to serve in North Carolina state government. In keeping with the firm's commitment to strategic continuity and trusted leadership, ownership of the firm has been transferred to Rachel Capen, who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer.

David Capen's dedication to public service reflects the core values on which Capen Consulting was founded. His decision to return to the public sector underscores a longstanding commitment to advancing effective governance and policy. As he transitions into this new chapter, the firm remains in trusted and capable hands under the direction of Rachel Capen.

Rachel Capen brings a wealth of political and strategic expertise to her new role as Owner and CEO. A seasoned political strategist and public affairs consultant, Rachel has several years of experience winning tough races. At Capen Consulting, she has led initiatives in media relations, event planning, grassroots organization, and strategic communications — further elevating the firm’s impact and reputation.

Prior to joining Capen Consulting, Rachel managed the successful re-election campaign of a member of North Carolina House leadership, securing general election victory in the most competitive state legislative race in North Carolina. She later served as a legislative assistant in the North Carolina General Assembly, where she advised on communications and policy while overseeing office operations. Her public service continued at the statewide level as director of scheduling to the Lieutenant Governor of Virginia. In recognition of her service, she was commissioned as an aide-de-camp by the Governor of Kentucky, receiving the honorary title of Colonel.

A native of rural Guilford County and a graduate of UNC Greensboro, Rachel has remained grounded in the values of service, community, and integrity. Under her leadership, Capen Consulting, LLC will continue to provide expert guidance in political strategy, communications, operations management, and public affairs.
